Robotics Process Automation (RPA) is one of the most operationally effective areas of information technology innovation today. Most commonly it represents the development and distribution of autonomous software robots (bots) which make use of existing human software interfaces (rather than machine-based interfaces) to automate routine and repetitive business processes so that more expensive human labor can be avoided and/or employed in areas that are not amiable for automation. The area is expanding as additional new industries and enterprises begin to develop and deploy such bots and as the domain that is amiable for automation expands.

Even more exciting is the application of artificial intelligence (iRPA), particularly in the areas of machine learning and natural language processing, into automation. This can range from the relatively simple - where bots are developed to autonomously fetch and condense information from multiple sources into a single display that is conducive to human decision making - to the complex, where bots are trained to evaluate data and act autonomously.

RiVidium has an active research program focused on developing and implementing iRPA into Human Capital Management applications.
